International Women’s Day:
What that means for Men…
Since today (March 8th) is International Women’s Day, I thought I would find out a bit more about it.
It turns out, it has a loooong history.
It started in New York by none other than the Socialist Party, in the year 1909. Wow.
We’ve come a long way from 1909, as the article points out there are still glaring disparities.
Still, even in developed areas of the world, women don’t have equal pay.
Women are still the large majority of victims of domestic and sexual violence.
As well, that’s just in countries where women supposedly have equal rights. Where’s the outrage?
America is a great country, but it has many faces. The one we see from our current POTUS makes tens of millions of us cringe. It makes other tens of millions smile.
There is absolutely no way a woman or a man of color could possibly do and say the things POTUS has done and still be POTUS. We’d hang ’em.
I don’t want to appear insensitive but, perhaps this is the last gasp of white male privilege?
This POTUS has certainly been polarizing.
His supporters can see him do no wrong. The rest of us can see him do nothing right.
And yet, he keeps tweeting crazy ass stuff. Yes, he does.
Our POTUS tweets crazy ass stuff… and because he’s POTUS those crazy ass tweets become part of our precious National Archive.
I’m so embarrassed.
So in light of International Women’s Day… I hope you gentlemen had a chance to acknowledge and appreciate a special woman in your life today.
And I hope she acknowledged and appreciated you right back.
Lord knows the sexes are equal but never, ever the same. Amen.
Take care and stay sensual. Dyann xoxo
