It’s spa night!
You and your sweetheart have decided a couples massage at a spa would be both relaxing and intimate and a perfect way to spice up a weekend. This is an incredible way to share a wellness experience that also enhances connection while unwinding side by side in a calm, soothing environment.
Now…
What if you had this experience in an amazing place like the Ritz-Carlton?
I was communicating with someone via email. He told me about the couples massage day he had which was planned by a –now — ex-girlfriend. She had booked a session for them at the Ritz for a couples massage.
He’d never had one before and looked forward to it. Below is essentially what he wrote to me.
***Although, I’ve changed or eliminated certain details to protect his privacy.***

He said, from the moment they walked into the Ritz, the atmosphere felt like a spa sanctuary and set the tone for their couples massage experience.
The reception and lounge areas are designed to feel like a refined oasis— plush seating, soft ambient music and lighting, a decor palette of neutral colors and a subtle floral scent in the air.
After checking in, he and his partner completed a brief consultation form. This is partly to give the massage therapists information about your preferences and partly for insurance purposes.
He said when they arrived at the Ritz-Carlton’s spa sanctuary, it was incredibly silent except for the music in teh background. Any city noise was gone.
Next…
They were guided through to locker rooms where soft terry towel robes and slippers awaited.
They were then taken to a private treatment room prepared with two massage tables side by side. The room was lit with candles as well as, with dimmer lights.
Then…
Two licensed massage therapists enter. In his case, they were both female. Before beginning, they asked a few questions confirming any injuries and comfort level.
He said his girlfriend had the therapist who was quite short and looked like a nice sweet Latino lady. While he got a therapist who was on the tall side, slim and athletic looking with long brown hair up in a bun on the back of her head. They both seemed pleasant and low key he said. They put him and his girlfriend at ease.
Once the session started, the chit chat died down.
Surprisingly, he said, the massage movements of their therapists were fairly synchronized. It’s like they had practiced how they were going to massage the back of their clients before had. He said although this was surprising, it actually helped both of them get into a deeper state of relaxation.
After awhile each massage began to be tailored to them individually. He felt like it was more ‘magical’ (my word) getting so deeply relaxed with his girlfriend. Especially, in an environment that was so sensual knowing it wasn’t going to get sexual.
Afterward, they were introduced to a ‘relaxation’ lounge where fresh towels, private showering areas, filtered water, herbal tea and even champagne were available. This gave them a chance to ‘transition’ to regularly daily consciousness more easily. This shared calm sparked deeper conversation and closeness.
Overall, this man felt the Ritz-Carlton couples massage experience was outstanding.

And even though he broke up with the girlfriend eventually, he was always grateful for their relationship. Including the sensual experiences they shared like the couples massage at The Ritz.
As someone who worked at a certified massage therapist for 25+ years, I can say that a couples massage at a spa like the Ritz, is about connecting in that subtle way — through energy. You don’t always need to ‘talk’ your way into closeness and intimacy. Even when you’re not touching each — you can still feel connected…
Experiencing stillness together.
It’s a beautiful, delicate way to deepen your romantic relationship.
Thanks for reading/listening and I wish you a very sensual day. Dyann xoxo
