What Exactly IS An Alpha Male In Today’s Society?

Below is a good scientific reference on the study of “alpha males” in wolf packs. Wolf pack research is a defining area. It has lead the vernacular in modern society for decades. This includes designations of Alpha, Beta and Omega males. The female wolves can be alphas, but there will be only one. There are no female beta or omega designations in wolf packs.

So Gentlemen;

You’ve probably noticed how women love strong men. They gravitate to them. Women love to smile and laugh more around strong men. They might even touch them more. Why is that and how can you be that guy? Right?

This is the type of man we’ve come to know as an ‘alpha male.’

It’s much simpler to become an ‘alpha male’ than you may think and it has a lot to with how you view yourself in relation to other men and women.

Yes, confidence is at the core of the alpha male. It’s also about knowing who you are, what you’re good at and presenting yourself to the world in a cool, calm, collected and authoritative way.

This is genuine cat nip for the ladies.

Good looks, money and a great physique can attract women, but we’ve all seen beautiful women with ordinary looking men. Sometimes they’ll spend a night with him. Many times they’ll get into a long term relationship with him and marry him too.

She may not find him super attractive physically, but he knows how to take charge in daily life. This allows her to simply be… she can simply be a woman with him.

This allows her to give back to him in a way that she can not with a ‘beta man’. The kind of man who is insecure and has no idea how to pick up the reins or assert himself. This kind of man tends to make a woman feel like he will never have her back. So, she can never relax with him.

So,What Exactly IS An Alpha Male?

Well, according to scientist, L. David Mech, (credited with developing much of the research and knowledge of wolves we have today), it’s not the biggest or the strongest wolf which is considered the ‘alpha.’

It’s the one with the most confidence who gets the girl. I’m paraphrasing, of course. 🙂

** Mech now says that the term ‘alpha’ is not accurate to describe the behavior of wolves. Since ‘alpha’ implies that the wolves fought to gain control of the pack. In reality, the head of a pack is the male who has mated with the female and have created offspring together. Instead, Mech says that the term ‘breeding male’ is more accurate. Mech has even tried to get one of his earlier books out of print because he believes it has added to the inaccurate view of the ‘alpha male.’**

No matter what Mech thinks now, the idea of the ‘alpha male’ and his (now) stereotypical qualities has wedged itself deeply into our mass consciousness.

I’ll continue this article with the collective assumption of what an alpha male is.

According to The Modern Man;

The number one thing women respond to is how much of an alpha male a guy is around her and people in general. If he displays the traits of an alpha male, most of the work is done and she is ready to be his. All he has to do is talk to her and guide her from a conversation to kiss to sex and into a relationship.

Regardless of the culture or country, men who don’t display alpha male traits always find it difficult to attract and maintain the interest of women. They also find that other alpha males don’t show them much respect in social situations. If you are currently not an alpha male, you CAN learn how to become an alpha male very quickly and easily.

The great thing is, you don’t have to be a jerk or aggressive to be an alpha male. Quite the opposite actually.
