SYNOPSIS:
“Bullying has plagued mankind since the beginning of recorded history.”
This is where Atonement begins. A villain is born with an event or series of events that influence the individual to such an extent, they feel the only option is to take the dark path.
That’s what’s driving our villain here. I won’t spoil it for you. I don’t want to take away the moments of discovery in this story.
Essentially, there is a series of murders in the Baton Rouge area. The bodies are all very similar in look and how they died. One by one the dead bodies show up in the swamps of Louisiana. They have scars from beatings and signs of starvation. They’ve been ‘kept’ for awhile before their deaths.
They also have a few things in common.
The victims are all men.
All about the same age; late 20 to early 30s. All very nice looking with chiseled physiques.
Who could be doing this? That’s the Baton Rouge police department’s task to discover.

THE REVIEW
I was pleasantly surprised at how this story unfolds. Although, there are sexual elements to it because it’s erotica, but it’s also truly an engaging mystery thriller.
The BDSM scenes and dialogue feel real.
I’m certainly no expert, but I’ve talked to enough people to have a pretty good sense of why people regularly engage in the practices.
Yet, it’s the personalities and the motivation which drives them that I found the most compelling. The overall arc of this story is well thought out, even if a little formulaic.
I don’t mean that as a negative either. A working writer RELIES on formulas and templates to keep their career going.
I was genuinely interested about the characters and on the edge of my seat for a good part of the story line…
and I loved it!

PROS:
The overall story line is well thought out and is indicative of something you’d see in an episode of an upper cable TV show or movie.
The characters are not only believable, but likeable. This helps with how hard you want to cheer for the hero/heroine and how deeply you’re conflicted about the villain.
There are sex scenes in the book of course, being an erotic thriller, yet this story will capture and carry you into another mind… even if that mind is an imaginary one.
I have to say, “BRAVO!” to the author.
CONS:
For me, this criticisms is one of my biggest pet peeves of the self publishing world. Proofreading.
A perfect use of the English language is the final cherry on an otherwise stellar cake.
It’s one of the biggest parts of writing that will give the writer a professional edge.
However, I don’t believe the mistakes are so overwhelming that they take away from the story.

Would I Recommend It?
Yes. Most definitely. This is a well crafted story with female domination at the center of it.
It’s woven together in a way that makes you think and not just for titillation.
