100 Page Playboy Issue Celebrates Hugh Hefner’s Life With Transgender Model On The Cover (Videos)
Whatever you want to think about Hugh Hefner, it can’t be denied that he broke some very strong social fences.
Just weeks after the death of its legendary Editor-in-Chief Hugh Hefner, Playboy is set to release a 100 page celebratory issue featuring a transgender model.
French model Ines Rau will make history as the first openly transgender model to become a Playboy playmate.
Not The First?
This story is slightly misleading since Playboy has featured another transgendered model within it’s pages during the 1980s.
Caroline ‘Tula’ Cossey was the centerfold of an issue.
Rau however, will appear as the centerfold in Playboy’s November/December issue.
It’s also the issue that Playboy Enterprises is using to pay tribute to its late founder Hugh Hefner, who passed away in September.
Rau has previously posed in Playboy.
It was the May 2014 “A-Z” issue. Playboy was exploring the acceptance of gender beyond just the male/female duality.
While Rau is the first openly transgender playmate, Playboy has previously featured a transgender model.
Her name was Caroline “Tula” Cossey, who played a Bond girl in For Your Eyes Only and bared it all in 1981.
Then, a year after Cossey posed in Playboy, the British tabloid, News of the World, revealed Cossey was born as a man. Oops.
Yet, Cossey posed again for Playboy in 1991. Hef was a true pioneer in so many was.
If you’re interested in getting Playboy’s November/December 2017 to see the beautiful Ines Rau for yourself… the digital (and print) issues are available NOW at Playboy.com
